About me.
I’m Kimberlee, the person behind the scenes at Happy Little Wren. I am a self-taught artist/doodler, specializing in watercolor pet portraits, Illustrations, & linocut prints. I enjoy being part of the creation process & always have some type of artsy/crafty project in the works. If I’m not making something, I’m most likely thinking of (too many) things to make next.
Why pets? Why not! I’ve always been way too attached to my dogs & I miss each one terribly when their time here is complete. They have their own special personality & steal such a huge part of my heart. A friend gave me a portrait of my papillon years ago & I can’t explain how much I cherish it!
Why linocut prints? I enjoy the puzzle of designing an idea in a way that will work when carved out of a block of linoleum. I only get one color (or maybe two) with a variety of lines & textures to portray the image to the viewer. In a fast-paced world filled with technology, I appreciate the time it takes to sketch, hand-carve, & hand-print each image onto a piece of paper. My linocut designs are founded in nature and God’s Spirit, & the full process feels like a meditation. I hope the resulting image fuels your spirit also.
